Buffy Makes List Of "50 Best Dramas Ever"

AOL TV has put together a list of the 50 Best Television dramas ever, and since it is on the internet the rankings are official. Buffy The Vampire Slayer got the #26 slot, with AOL saying:

“It’s the simple, yet spot-on accuracy of comparing teen life to Hell that’s the true genius of Joss Whedon’s masterpiece.”

Other than Buffy, AOL didn’t have a lot of love for The WB shows. We will keep that fact in mind when we do our list of the 50 greatest websites, AOL.

If you’d like to see the full list, or are just curious how House ranked, you can click here.

A PSA from The WB

Friday, August 29th, 2008

I read this alarming article the other day about a new book titled “Women and Religion in the West,” written by a British sociologist named Kristin Aune.

According to Aune, the popularity of shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer have resulted in over 50,000 women a year to abandon their church due to the traditional, male-dominated values of their religion.

In turn, these women are “attracted by Wicca, popularised by the TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer.”

Right. Let me tell you something.

Actually, two things.

One: it’s spelled “popularized.”

Two: We here at The WB would like to remind our loyal viewers that we do not encourage any sort of abandonment (unless you’re talking about Crocs. You should really abandon those ASAP.) of any sort of organized religion. You’re free to do what you want.

We do, however, encourage you to sit at your computer and watch all the full episodes that we have to offer. Sure, you may have work to do, or data entry to log, or children to supervise, or telephones to answer—but The WB believes in having a fun time while you’re at it.

So, please. Do not believe articles and books that blame our beloved shows on social change. We just want to have fun. Online.

Don’t you?
