Tina “Scarface” Fey

Moye J. Frog December 1st, 2008 11:22 pm

Ever wonder why Tiny Fey has that scar running down her left cheek? I’ve actually never noticed this, but the writer-turned-actress has revealed to Vanity Fair that a stranger attacked her when she was five years old in her front yard.

Fey never brought up the story with reporters since “it’s impossible to talk about it without somehow seemingly exploiting it and glorifying it.”

What? No TV movie about young girls getting attacked and taking a stand against knives? Fey, I’m so disappointed in you.

Twilight Success Leads To Buffy Movie Rumors

Brendan J. Frog December 1st, 2008 10:23 pm

Internet rumors can be tricky things, so don’t get too excited yet

But according to a story in an actual newspaper, there are rumblings in Hollywood that a Buffy The Vampire Slayer movie could happen now that melancholy Buffy-knockoff Twilight did so well in theaters.

I live near Hollywood, but I haven’t heard any of the rumors. Perhaps that’s because instead of executive lunches or board meetings, I tend to hang out in my bedroom.

HOWEVER if I hear any news of a Buffy movie in my bedroom, or even in my living room or foyer, you guys will be the first to know.

If a Buffy The Vampire movie does happen, it wouldn’t be the first movie based on a TV show based on a movie…but it would be the best.

My American Express Wishlist

Moye J. Frog December 1st, 2008 8:20 pm

So we’re in the middle of some kind of recession and though we ought to be tightening our budgets, American Express had go and ruin everything. They’re bringing back their My Wishlist program for their card members, with crazy deals for luxury items that you otherwise would never buy. (Like a special dinner with Chef Gordon Ramsay? Sure.)

The program runs from today until December 18th (so no last minute Christmas gifts for you!)

Of course, you can’t just swoop in and buy what you want like it’s eBay or something. Each product will be featured on a specific day at specific times, so you have to check back often and keep your eye on the clock.

Or you can do what I did and email this website to all of my friends and family, and then hope for the best on December 25th.

Fans Create Massive Map Of The Firefly “Verse”

Brendan J. Frog December 1st, 2008 7:20 pm

When I like a show, I watch it, occasionally buy the DVDs, or sometimes dress like a character for Halloween or a date. However, a group of Firefly fans over at FireflyShipWorks have taken fandom to a whole new level, and have created massive, vividly-colored maps of the Firefly “Verse.”

The results are pretty impressive.

According to the fiction cartographers:

[The map] documents the names, positions, sizes, populations and other never-before-published details of the 215 terraformed planets and moons orbiting the five star systems that comprise “The Verse” of Joss Whedon’s Firefly and Serenity.

You can read all about the map and its creation at FireflyShipWorks.

TV’s Hottest Hunks

Moye J. Frog December 1st, 2008 5:52 pm

AOL has compiled a list of the hottest hunks EVER to grace our television sets, or at least the top fifty of them. So it wasn’t a surprised that both Chad Michael Murray and David Boreanaz made the cut. Our Angel was #47 (beating out Wentworth Miller!!!) while CMM was all the up at #12.

Don’t think this was all about men, though. AOL also put together a list of the Sexiest Women on TV, including Sarah Michele Gellar at #50 (OUTRAGEOUS), Sophia Bush of One Tree Hill at #47, Charisma Carpenter at #22, Jennifer Aniston at #21, Katherine Heigl at #8

You’ll have to wait until next week, though, to see who made the top 10 hunks.

PS. My mistake for ignoring Harry Hamlin, who made #21, as the Logan Echolls’ dad in Veronica Mars.

A Geek Holiday

Moye J. Frog December 1st, 2008 9:18 am

Yeah, so Thanksgiving is over. We’ve had our fill of turkey over here, and now we’ve moved onto the next big holiday smash, Chrismukkah.

It’s also Cyber Monday which means we’ll be on the lookout for some awesome online deals to share with you guys. And what is Cyber Monday without some truly geeky gifts for the holidays?

Check out the Serenity ornament which looks like it flew straight out of the last Firefly episode. It even comes with a special stand so when the Christmas tree comes down, you can display it right next to your computer monitor while you watch the show on The WB. Brilliant, right?

And if that’s not nerdy enough, there’s also the Batarang money clip just like Batman used in The Dark Knight!!! Okay, so I don’t really remember seeing any money clip in that movie, but it’s still pretty darn cool.

Black Friday, Cyber Monday

Moye J. Frog November 28th, 2008 6:39 pm

So whether or not you’re out holiday shopping right now (or re-watching all 9 Thanksgiving episodes of Friends like me), The WB would like to make the long weekend as comfortable as possible.

Here’s a list of Black Friday deals for you guys to keep an eye on:

  • Mashable has a list of the top 10 online sites for Cyber Monday deals. Read carefully and shop recklessly.
  • Consumer Reports’ blog lists ways to get the best out of Black Friday EVER. I hope they add “do not stampede poor Walmart employees to death” at the bottom.
  • How to save even more money on Black Friday? Read all about it on io9. I think I’ll be following this list the most.
  • If you’ve got a video game nerd in the family/friends group, Kotaku compiled a convenient list to getting the best game deals around.
  • Or if you’re rich and days like Black Friday and Cyber Monday mean nothing to you because you own the world, Luxist celebrates the holiday shopping season with the Nordstrom’s Ultimate Gift Collection.
